National Credit Union Art Competition Winner

Zoe Stewart, one of our pupils in second class, placed first out of the 700 entries in her age category in the Virginia Credit Union art competition last Autumn. She joined all of our other eight winners from our school for the fantastic awards ceremony which was held in the Lakeside Manor on the 27th of November. This event is always one of the highlights of our school year and a huge thank you for this goes to Mr Micheál McDermott and all management and staff in Virginia Credit Union.

As Zoe had placed first in her category she went on to be judged in the Chapter Level of the art competition. Her beautiful art entry was judged with the myriad of those of 13 other Credit Unions at Chapter level.  Zoe again placed first in her category and her entry went on to be judged at national level.

All in Carrigabruise National School are thrilled Zoe placed first and was the overall winner in her category. What an amazing achievement to have been placed first at national level, a competition that concludes the judging of all of the 70,000 entries in this competition! The awards ceremony was in Croke Park on Sunday the 26th of January and Zoe was presented her award by the president of the League of Credit Unions, Mr Brendan Jenkins.

Zoe was invited to the Virginia Credit Union to attend part of their AGM last month. She was thrilled to receive a very special gift from them. Virginia Credit Union has had a lot of finalists at national level in the annual art competition over the years, including Zoe’s brother AJ last year who was a runner up in his category. Zoe being awarded first prize at National Level is the first time an entrant from our local Credit Union got first place at national level.

Virginia Credit Union is an amazing support to our school and to our whole community. It is fantastic that so many young artists have gained recognition through them and taken titles back but to have a first prize nationally taken back by Zoe is super special. What a boost for all!

May Zoe’s and ALL of our pupils’ artistic talents and creativity continue to flourish and bring huge happiness to them and to all around them.
